NEC FC have withdrawn from the CECAFA Kagame Cup due in Tanzania this month.
The diehards had replaced double winning champions Vipers SC who also opted out to concentrate on pre-season friendlies in Rwanda.
NEC FC’s withdrawal means that Uganda will not be represented at the event that runs from September 2nd to 15th.
They had been grouped in Group B alongside Rwanda’s APR FC, Burundi’s Bumamuru, and Zanzibar’s Mlandege.
Group A has Tanzania Premier League side, Singida Big Stars FC together with Garde Cotes FC (Djibouti), Ethiopian Coffee SC (Ethiopia) and Kenya Police FC.
South Sudan’s Al Hilal are placed in Group C together with Kator FC (South Sudan), Mogadishu City Club FC (Somalia) and Alahly SC Wad Madani (Sudan).
The games are to be played at the Azam Complex, Chamazi, KMC Stadium and the Major General Isamuyo Stadium.
