Uganda Woodball team off to Thailand for 2025 Beach Woodball World Cup and 1st Thailand Open

Uganda Woodball team has been flagged off to Thailand for the Beach World Cup and 1st Thailand Open by Dr Patrick Bernard Ogwel.

The fourth World Cup beach woodball championship will take place in Rayong, Thailand at the Laem Charoen beach between September 7th to 13th 2025.

The Thailand open international beach woodball championship is slated for 9th to 13th 2025.

Ogwel commended the Woodball Federation and teams for tremendously representing Uganda at international events

“It’s a great honour to officiate to flag off of the Uganda Woodball team. They have also represented us well and I hope they go to Thailand and represent us well once again. I commend the Woodball President for the contribution towards the game.”

The team has been camped in Bunjako Beach in Mpigi district and depart the country this Saturday for Thailand.

Thomas Khedi and Christine Birungi are the respective men and female team captains for Uganda.

Uganda will field players in the fairway team event, Stroke team event and Stroke singles but will not compete in the doubles.

Uganda had a successful outing at the 2023 Beach Woodball World Cup in Malaysia winning four medals.

In 2019 they won a silver medal but withdrew from the 2024 edition citing financial challenges.

•Women: Jackline Naula, Christine Birungi, Rhona Namatovu Majorine and Anita Nakyazze.
