On Wednesday, evening President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the First Lady Janet Museveni hosted the historic 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) team at State House in Entebbe.

Following the two victories, President Museveni had to pay a total of Shs2.4Bn to the team that made history as the first Ugandan team to reach the knockout stage.

“I promised and am implementing, so today I am fulfilling my pledge . Every time you win I would give 30 million each and I have already put the money on your accounts.” Said Museveni

Each player and official received about 30 million shillings per win. This comes after FUFA had also paid about $11,000 to every member of the Uganda Cranes CHAN team.

Uganda had its CHAN campaign end against Senegal in a 1-0 defeat at Namboole. Before the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Uganda will first visit Botswana and Algeria in the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
