KCB Bank and FMU Unveil Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally

David GOMBE

KCB Bank Uganda, a financial service provider and long-standing partner of Ugandan motorsport, today announced the continuation of its fruitful partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) at a launch event held at Somewhere Else in Naguru.

The renewed commitment is set to ignite the much-awaited Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally, set to take place in Gulu from 9th to 11th October, 2025.

This year has seen KCB Bank’s commitment to motorsport shine through with significant sponsorships across the National Rally Championship (NRC) calendar. The partnership has been a driving force behind some of the most thrilling rallies of 2025, including the Pearl of Africa Rally, the Jinja-based Bugerere Stabex EMC Rally, and the Fort Portal Rally. The Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally promises to be a powerful tribute to a motorsport hero, and KCB Bank is proud to be at the center of this commemorative event. The bank’s sponsorship reinforces its dedication to nurturing local talent and elevating the sport to new heights.
“We see motorsport as a metaphor for the journey of progress and resilience that our country is on,” said Sheila

Awori, the Ag. Head of Communication and Marketing at KCB Bank.

“This sponsorship is about the tangible impact we’re creating. We’re a key engine behind the development of young drivers, providing them with the platform to hone their skills and compete at a national level. Beyond that, these rallies are a powerful driver of local tourism and youth engagement, bringing economic benefits to communities and inspiring the next generation. This year has been an exhilarating showcase of what’s possible when passion meets purpose, and we are honored to be the engine behind so many of these incredible stories.”

Speaking at the launch, Reynolds Kibira, General Secretary of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), emphasized the importance of corporate support and safety.

“We are incredibly grateful for sponsors like KCB Bank that make rallies like this come to life. Their partnership is crucial for the growth of Ugandan motorsport,” Kibira stated. “As we get ready for the Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally, we urge everyone to remember that safety must be paramount. We need fans, drivers, and officials to be extra vigilant and consider safety at all times. Let’s all work together to make this a successful and safe event.”

The Rajiv Ruparelia Memorial Rally is expected to draw thousands of motorsport enthusiasts, honoring the memory of a rally icon while showcasing Uganda’s growing prominence in the motorsport scene.
