Uganda Cranes head Paul Joseph Put is on the radar of West African giants Cameroon according to reports.

The Belgian is being considered by Cameroon’s FA to replace his fellow countryman Marc Brys.

Put replaced Serb Milutin Sredojevic alias Micho in November, 2023 on a two-year contract which is due to expire this very year.

He is widely travelled and has coached several countries on the African continent.

The Belgian tactician has coached national teams in Gambia, Burkina Faso, Kenya and Congo Brazzaville.

In 2013, Put took Burkina Faso to the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, losing to Nigeria.

Put also coached Algerian club USM Alger and was the technical director at Wydad Casablanca in Morocco.

Put helped Uganda Cranes return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing out on the previous two editions and his side came close to sealing a historic World Cup dream ticket during the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Cameroon was not among the nine automatic 2026 World Cup qualifying countries on the African continent after finishing second in their group.

They however finished as the best second-placed teams in the African qualification groups and will now compete in a mini-tournament to be hosted in Morocco in November 2025. The semifinals are scheduled for November 13, with Cameroon set to face DR Congo, while Gabon meets Nigeria in the other match. The winners will advance to the final on November 16.

The champion of this playoff will earn the opportunity to represent Africa in the inter-confederation playoffs in March 2026, where they will compete against teams from other continents for a place at the expanded World Cup.
