Uganda Bombers off to Kenya for Africa Zone 3 Boxing Championship

Uganda’s boxing team (Bombers) have been flagged off for the forthcoming Africa Zone 3 Boxing championship due to take place in Kenya’s capital of Nairobi.
The championship is scheduled for the 15th October to 25th of the same month.
Kenya along with Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Burundi, Ethiopia, Somalia, Gabon, Congo Brazzaville, Central African Republic (CAR) and Cameroon are the countries that will take place in the championship.
At the flag off, Uganda Boxing Federation president Moses Muhangi asserted that they have had poor preparations but remains optimistic the summoned boxers are to prevail in Kenya.
“We have not had the best preparations, no training camp for the boxers. They have had their preparations here in Lugogo due to lack of funds. We are however optimistic that they are to yield success in Kenya since we have good coaches and the boxers have also been active during the Uganda Boxing champions league.” Said Muhangi.
Murungi Kassim has been named as the men’s team captain while Emily Nakalema will be the women’s skipper. They will be guided by the experienced hand of Head Coach Lawrence Kalyango, supported by a dedicated technical bench comprising Ramathan Seguya and Abdu Tebazalwa.
Uganda Boxers to Kenya
There are 11 men and 5 female boxers on the team. Brenda Muduwah (50 Kg), Angel Katushabe (52 Kg), Fatuma Nabikolo (57 Kg), Erina Namutebi (63 Kg) and Emily Tina Nakalema (66 Kg) are the female boxers on the team.
The men’s fighters include heavy weights’ duo of Emmanuel Tabula Tusabe (92 Kg) and Aziz Ringo (92 Kg).
The others are; Samuel Ochen (54 Kg), Alfred Ojok (75 Kg), Alex Kanabi (71 Kg), Edward Mukwaya (67 Kg), Farahat Maninora (63.5 Kg), Jimmy Adiko (60 Kg), Kassim Muurungi (57 Kg), Livingstone Matovu (52 kg) and fly weight Ahmed Kato Kazibwe (48 Kg).
