Ugandan forward John Paul Dembe scored in BK Hacken’s Europa Conference 2-1 defeat to RC Strasbourg on Thursday.
Julio Enciso and Martial Godo scored for RC Strasbourg who remain unbeaten in this season’s Europa Conference League phase.
Midway through the first half, Godo’s pinpoint cross picked out Julio Enciso with the Paraguay native guiding the ball into the corner of the net.
Dembe and co tried to find a leveller before halftime breather but the French side held on to carry the lead into the break.
In the second period, Godo who set up Enciso for Strasbourg’s first goal doubled their advantage just before the hour mark.
In the 62nd minute, Dembe nipped home past the keeper into the empty to give his side a lifeline.
His goal was not as his side’s seven game unbeaten run came to an end and leaves them searching for their maiden win in this season’s Europa Conference league phase. They have drawn two and lost once while Strasbourg are well positioned to make it through to the knockout phase sitting inside the top eight with seven points in three matches.
