Uganda Cranes legend Tonny Mawejje has clarified on his Technical Director role at Police FC revealing he was appointed four months ago.
Mawejje on Tuesday resigned as head coach at Finance Trust Bank Super Women’s League side St.Noa Girls FC citing his reasons.
“Dear sir, Please accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation from my position as the Head coach of St. Noa GFC. I appreciate the opportunity I have had while working at St.Noa GFC for a short stint and I feel it’s in the best interest of the team and the whole project of St. Noa GFC for me to step aside. This comes after a careful consideration of my career goals and the entire St. Noa GFC project ambitions. Thank you for your understanding and I wish St. Noa GFC a continued success, I hope our paths cross again in the future.” Said Mawejje who had replaced Jimmy Kintu Mwera at St.Noa
He resigned along with his assistant Vincent Kayizzi also a former Uganda Cranes international.
On the Technical director role at Police FC which Mawejje served as a player, he stated,
“Yes, it’s true I was appointed as Technical Director at Police FC four months ago. I have been helping the club in that capacity since July 11th this year. I didn’t get the job recently after my resignation at St.Noa.” Said Mawejje.
The former Uganda Cranes midfielder retired from active football at the end of the 2021/22 season and subsequently embarked on pursuing a coaching career.
Mawejje has previously coached at Kampala Queens in the Women Super League as an assistant coach in the 2023/24 season.
