Vipers SC ascended to the top of the Uganda Premier League with a 2-0 win over Mbarara City under the lights of St.Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
The Venoms started Allan Okello and Hillary Mukundane who were away for Uganda Cranes AFCON duties in Morocco.
Okello returning to the side and Abdul Karim Watambala scored in either half as the Venoms maximized points at Kitende.
Five minutes to the halftime breather, referee Diana Murungi who recently got a 2026 FIFA Badge awarded Vipers a penalty after goalkeeper Emuron Fahad had fouled Milton Karisa in the forbidden area.
Okello was entrusted with the responsibility and calmly fired the hosts into the lead.
Five minutes after the restart, Watambala capitalized on goalkeeper Emuron’s mistake to double the Venoms’ lead.
Vipers go top of the Uganda Premier League with 27 in 11 games, one above second placed KCCA who lost to Police FC. The Ankole Lions are in the red zone with 10 points.
