Richard Malinga has part ways with Express where he has been serving as assistant coach since November 2025, Swift Sports Uganda understands.
Malinga was appointed as Jimmy Kintu Mwera’s assistant at the seven time Uganda Premier League champions following the departure of Badru Kaddu.
His departure comes at the time the club has lost key players such as Richard Basangwa and left back Hakim Wandera who joined NEC FC.
Mohammed Ssenoga Kaggwa is also set to leave the club during this transfer window.
The departures mean there’s going to be a lot more pain towards the end of the season which is going to be damaging for the Red Eagles.
Malinga is a former Entebbe Health and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA FC) right back Malinga.
He previously served as Mbale Heroes head coach and was also in charge of KCCA Junior team coach.
He is also a former Mawokota Ssaza team head coach in the prestigious Masaza Cup competition.
Last year, Malinga led Buddo SS to the USSSA boys football title beating St.Mary’s SS Kitende in the final held in Ngora District.
Express host bitter rivals SC Villa this Thursday at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo but the pain is only going to continue for Kintu, his players and the Red Eagles faithfuls between now and the end of the season.c
