Rampant SC Villa routed sorry Mbarara City 6-1 at a raucous FUFA Kadiba Stadium on a glorious evening to be a Jogoo.
It was a perfect response for Zeljko Kovacevic’s men who came into the contest after a 2-1 defeat at BUL FC last week.
Frank Ssebuufu opened the scoring for home side heading home a quality Najib Yiga corner kick in the sixth minute.
Hassan Mubiru who has been impressive for the Jogoos this term doubled their lead five minutes later.
Tony Atukunda extended Villa’s lead after Mubiru’s effort from the free kick hit the woodwork at the half-hour mark.
Aslam Semakula tapped home the fourth for the hosts in the 35th minute.
Yiga who fed Ssebuufu for Villa’s opener got his name on the score sheet five minutes into the second period.
Mubiru completed his brace in the 55th minute capitalizing on Reagan Matege’s back pass.
The only worrying notes for Villa came when captain David Owori tripped Wycliffe Ahumuza in the forbidden area.
Clinton Kamugisha was entrusted with the responsibility and camly pulled one back for the visitors who are in the bottom three with 11 points.
SC Villa are now third on the table with 29 points, four adrift of leaders Vipers SC. They will end their first round against Lugazi FC on Saturday.
