Bosnian Goran Lojo appointed as Silverbacks head coach

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has named Bosnian Goran Lojo as the new head coach of the Uganda National Men’s Basketball Team, the Silverbacks.
FUBA confirmed Lojo’s appointment in a statement which states,
“We are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Goran Lojo as the Head Coach of the Uganda National Men’s Basketball Team- Silverbacks,” FUBA confirmed Lojo’s appointment.
The Federation stated Lojo joins the senior men’s programme with a strong international background, noting that his appointment “marks a significant step in Fuba’s strategic commitment to strengthening the competitiveness and global profile of Ugandan basketball.”
Lojo is a highly respected basketball professional from Bosnia and Herzegovina. He has previously served as head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Women’s National Team, whom he guided to the programme through its most successful period.
Under his stewardship, Bosnia and Herzegovina Women’s National Team finished fifth at the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket and qualified for the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup for the first time.
In November 2023, FUBA had appointed Lojo as the Ladies team (Gazelles) head coach but he left before managing a single game. By then he opted for Great Britain Youth team coach role.
Lojo has previously has success with Bosnia and Herzegovina women’s national team and Germany’s top women’s league team Rutronik Stars Keltern.
