CAF Champions League: Okello’s Young Africans out as Onyango’s Sundowns seals Quarterfinal slot

The final group matches of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League were held over the weekend with eights teams confirming slots into the quarterfinals.

Allan Okello’s Young Africans beat Algeria’s JS Kabylie 3-0 in Amaan, Zanzibar but the result was not enough to send them through.

In the group A contest, Okello registered an assist with Angolan Depu scoring a brace and Boka added the other.

Young Africans however needed mercy Al Ahly to beat Morocco’s FAR Rabat to qualify but the contest ended in a goalless stalemate in Cairo.

Record competition winners Al Ahly and FAR Rabat both advanced in Group A.

Meanwhile, Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns sealed a place in the quarterfinals after a 2-0 win over MC Alger on Saturday.

Brian Leon Muniz scored the all important goals for the Brazilians who needed victory to finish in the top two places of Group C.

The 2016 African champions finished second in the Group that was topped by Sudan’s Al Hilal.
