NEC FC have progressed to the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after eliminating UPDF FC 2-0 at the round of 32 stage on Thursday in Bombo.
Joseph Dhata, the 2024 edition’s top scorer netted twice for the Badru Kaddu Mukasa coached side.
Dhata gave the visitors the lead in the 28th minute after being fed by Richard Basangwa.
He doubled the 2024 finalists’ advantage from the spot at the stroke of halftime.
The second half did not produce more goals as NEC prevailed to the round of 16 of the 52nd edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
Meanwhile, Maroons FC eliminated Kumi United 1-0 to reach the last 16 with Norman Odipio’s 56th minute goal the difference between the two sides.
The two sides join the likes of Vipers SC, SC Villa, Kitara FC, URA FC, Red Devo, Onduparaka FC, Happy Boys Kagaba, Iganga United, KCCA FC and Express FC in the round of 16.
