All set ahead of 2026 UMEA Solidarity Games in Mbale

The 2026 UMEA Solidarity Games have officially been launched on Thursday afternoon at Kibuli Secondary School in Kampala.

This year’s theme is faith, unity and excellence through sports.

The 12th edition is expected to attract over 150 teams from over 70 schools of Islamic based Faith and this according to according to Hajji Lwembaawo Hussein, the General Secretary UMEA Solidarity games.

The games will kick off on Thursday 2nd April and climax on Easter Monday, April 6th 2025 at Nkoma Secondary School in Mbale.

Hajji Twahil Kitezaala Muhammed, chairperson UMEA Solidarity Games asserted that,

“This year’s edition is set and everything will go on as planned. The host venue is in great condition and we are eagerly waiting for action. This year we shall have several games and we are to introduce Judo as well. We are to continue with football, Netball, volleyball, Handball, Badminton, Table Tennis chess and scrabble among others.

Schools will compete in sports disciplines such as Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Handball with Judo as one of the new game introduced in the school’s event.

Mind Games such as Chess and Scrabble are the others that have been introduced.

Last week, a delegation from UMEA Secretariat led by Chairman Hajji Kitezala inspected Nkoma SSS – Mbale the venue for the games this year to ensure readiness of hosting UMEA Solidarity Games 2026.

Gombe SS were the overall Games champions last at the event hosted at Namagabi Secondary School in Kayunga.
