NEC FC humbled Lugazi FC 2-0 to advance to the quarterfinals of the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup at the MTN Omondi Stadium under on Tuesday, 17th March 2026.
Gideon Odongo and mid-season signing Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo scored the two goals for Badru Kaddu’s side.
Odongo gave NEC the lead with a sixth-minute powerful header off Hakim Wandera corner kick before Ssekamatte doubled their lead off Emmanuel Kulanga’s delivery two minutes later.
NEC join Happy Boyz Kagaba whoe eliminated Six O’clock 5-4 on penalties after a goalless draw on Monday.
Meanwhile, action will resume on Wednesday with Kitara FC taking on Bunyaruguru United at The Royals Park in Butema. On the same day, last year’s winners Vipers SC will welcome Iganga United FC at St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.
