KCB Bank Uganda Becomes Title Sponsor of the National Rally Championship

David GOMBE

KCB Bank Uganda has officially announced its title sponsorship of the National Rally Championship, marking a major milestone in the bank’s commitment to supporting motorsport and driving national progress through sports.

The announcement was made today at the KCB Bank Uganda headquarters in Kampala during an event attended by representatives from the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU), rally drivers and motorsport enthusiasts. Under the new partnership, the rally will now be known as the KCB–Pearl of Africa Rally Championship, scheduled to take place from 9th –11th May 2026 in Mbale.
Since 2007, KCB Bank Uganda has partnered with the FMU to support the rally, steadily growing the collaboration into one of the most impactful sports in the country. The latest development represents a strategic shift from sponsorship to full category ownership, cementing the bank’s position as the undisputed financial partner of Ugandan motorsport.

Edgar Byamah, Managing Director of KCB Bank Uganda, while speaking at the launch, said the partnership reflects the bank’s commitment to performance, reliability, and empowering communities across the country.

“Motorsport is a powerful symbol of performance, resilience, and precision values that mirror how we operate as a bank. By taking on the title sponsorship of the National Rally Championship Series, we are reaffirming our commitment to driving local pride, empowering youth talent, and supporting platforms that inspire national progress. Just as rally drivers rely on performance and reliability to conquer challenging terrain, our customers rely on KCB Bank for innovative financial solutions that move them forward.”
xxx from the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda welcomed the strengthened partnership, noting that it represents a significant boost for the sport.

“The Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda is proud to deepen our partnership with KCB Bank Uganda as the title sponsor of the National Rally Championship. This support is an investment in the growth of motorsport, the development of young drivers, and the expansion of rallying across Uganda’s regions. Together, we are building a stronger, more competitive motorsport ecosystem that showcases Ugandan talent on the continental and global stage.”

The announcement comes on the heels of an impressive international performance by KCB-sponsored rally driver Oscar Ntambi, who recently competed at the World Rally Championship, finishing 5th overall in the African Rally Championship standings and 22nd overall globally during his debut appearance.

Ntambi praised KCB Bank for supporting local drivers and raising the profile of Ugandan motorsport. “Representing Uganda on the world stage was an incredible experience, and having the backing of KCB Bank made that journey possible. Motorsport demands discipline, innovation, and relentless performance qualities that KCB continues to champion. Seeing the bank step forward as title sponsor of the National Rally Championship is a huge win for drivers, fans, and the entire motorsport community.”

The KCB–National Rally Championship remains one of Africa’s most iconic rally events, attracting top regional drivers and thousands of motorsport fans every year. With KCB Bank Uganda now at the helm as title sponsor, the championship is set to deliver even greater excitement, innovation, and opportunities for the next generation of Ugandan rally talent.
Through this partnership, KCB Bank Uganda continues to strengthen its brand promise of delivering performance, digital convenience, and innovative financial solutions that empower individuals, businesses, and communities to move forward.
