For the first time Hussein Mbalangu returns to Lugogo with his URA FC side to face his former side NEC FC since his sacking last year.
Mbalangu will aim to end NEC FC’s 12-match unbeaten run since the 2-1 defeat to KCCA FC in December, 2025.
Badru Kaddu who replaced Mbalangu at NEC may be disappointed with the Stanbic Uganda Cup exit but asserts focus now turns to the league.
“We were disappointed by the defeat to Vipers in the Uganda Cup but now focus turns to the league and we want to achieve our target.” Stated Kaddu whose side will be without Gideon Odong, Emmanuel Ajo and Joseph Dhata due to respective injuries.
Mbalangu’s URA FC has lost just once in their 10 matches across all competitions drawn five and four wins.
They come into the game after stunning KCCA FC in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, Mbalangu who gives respect to NEC believes this a great opportunity for his side to continue improving.
“It is going to be a tough match against a very good side, but we are not in good position at the moment and we want to improve by winning matches.” Said Mbalangu
NEC has managed two wins in the previous five meetings while facing URA FC, drawn two and suffered one defeat. They drew 1-1 in the first round meeting at Nakivubi with Ronald Kaye scoring for NEC and Moses Aliro struck for URA FC.
