Uganda’s representatives at the 2026 CAF schools football championship, St Mary’s Boarding SS Kitende have progressed to the finals of the competition in Zimbabwe.
Kitende overcame Benin 4-3 on penalties during the semi-finals held at the Ngoni stadium in Harare city, Zimbabwe.
The two sides had played to a goalless stalemate in normal time and the winner was to be determined on penalties.
St Mary’s Boarding School Kitende who topped their group with seven points will face Senegal in Friday’s final, the West African side thrashed Morocco 4-0 in the other semifinal.
Uganda topped group A that had hosts Zimbabwe, Morocco and DR Congo. They managed two wins 6-0 over Congo before sealing their slot in the semis with a 3-0 humbling of Morocco and had played out to a 1-1 draw with Zimbabwe in the opener.
Players such as Owen Mukisa with four goals, Lucky Wanyama, Musa Kironde, Ivan Kakinda and Emmanuel Opio have been instrumental for the Hassan Zzungu coached side during the campaign.
The Winners of the Continental Finals of the CAF African Schools Football Championship in both the boys and girls categories receive USD 300 000, with runners-up receiving USD 200 000, while third-place finishers each receive USD 150 000.
