Uganda Premier League table leaders Vipers SC beat Buhimba United 2-0 at Butema on Tuesday to maintain grip at the summit.

The win sees the Venoms return to winning ways after back to back draws against Kitara FC and SC Villa.

Goals from Hillary Mukundane and Karim Abdul Karim Watambala secured all three points for Vipers.

In the 12th minute, Mukundane’s header hit defender Derrick Ochen on its way into the net for Vipers opener.

Watambala had a decent chance to double the visitors lead in the first period when he was set up by Yunus Sentamu but his effort was blocked. Moments later, Sentamu was denied by the goalkeeper.

Karim Watambala doubled Vipers’ lead when he struck from the spot 12 minutes after the recess.

Vipers stay top of the table with 55 points while Buhimba United is 15th with 15 points collected in 24 games.
