The FUFA disciplinary panel and FUFA Referees Disciplinary panel have on Wednesday delivered disciplinary actions over incidents involving Vipers Vs Kitara and Lugazi Vs Kitara league games.

The referees disciplinary panel has handed Referee Ssemeere Asadu a three-month suspension from officiation. According to the panel, Ssemeere misapplied the laws of the game to the incident around the 25th minute of the match involving Kitara FC’s goalkeeper and Vipers SC attacker as the two sides faces off in the league on 10 April 2026 at Kitende.

Kitara FC goalkeeper Kibirige Meddie has been handed a two-match ban and a suspended fine of UG 500,000 for misconduct during the Vipers SC
Vs Kitara Fc UPL match on April 10, 2026. The FDP found that the goalkeeper’s conduct around the 25th minute of the match constituted serious foul play on Milton Karisa.

Why Kibirige was suspended

This season referee Shamirah Nabadda escaped punishment for a similar incident involving Vipers’ midfielder Enock Ssebagala against Basangwa (Nec) during the second round meeting at Kitende.

Lugazi’s FUFA president Abdul Kawuulu and the club have been sanctioned over improper comments.

Kawuulu and the club have jointly been sanctioned with a fine of UX 1,000,000 for comments made about the match officials after the Lugazi FC Vs Kitara FC SUPL match played on April 25, 2026. The FDP found that their comments constituted improper conduct and brought the game into disrepute.

The panel has however not taken action against referee Lucky Kasalirwe who failed to give Lugazi FC what looked like a genuine penalty when defender Henry Musisi brought down Alvin Birungi in the forbidden area during Lugazi’s defeat against Kitara in Lugazi last month.

Kasalirwe was also didn’t send off Vipers midfielder Enock Ssebaggala for a horrible challenge on SC Villa’s Hassan Mubiru when the two sides were facing off at FUFA Kadiba in April.
