NEC FC ended Kitara’s home unbeaten run with a 1-0 win at the Royals Park in Butema on Saturday.
Kitara along with NEC, SC Villa and Vipers SC were the only sides yet to suffer defeat at home this term.
Richard Basangwa scored the all important goal for NEC to stun Kitara’s title hopes.
Kitara needed to maximize points to close the gap on leaders Vipers to three points heading into the final three games of the season.
Basangwa a former Venom second half goal could have handed the title to his former paymasters.
NEC remains unbeaten since the 2-1 defeat to KCCA FC in December last year, in fact they are now unbeaten in 17 league matches since then.
Kitara stay third on the table standings with 54 points six points behind the table leaders Vipers. Wasswa Bbosa’s men still have Express, BUL and Police FC in the last league matches.
NEC are now fifth on the log with 50 points and will battle with Buhimba United Saints, SC Villa and Calvary FC.
