The 2026 SkyView Girls Schools Cricket Week came to its conclusion on Saturday in Gulu city with Light SS emerging champions.

Light SS overcame city rivals Olila HS by 5 wickets to emerge champions of the SkyView Girls Schools Cricket Week on Saturday.
The two sides faced off in a low-scoring, but nerve-racking encounter that saw Olila who elected to bat first set only 62/8.
Rita Alio and Teddy Anyait each picked three wickets to help Light SS limit Olila to that score.
Olila begun their defense brilliantly with two maidens however, the score they set was always going to be a hard one to defend.
Light SS didn’t need any individual brilliance in their chase. They had only two players (Ruth Kulume with 15 not out and Susan Akidi with 14 off 25) score in double digits, but added to the 15 extras Olila gave out, they completed their chase with 10 balls spare.
It is the second time Light SS are winning this trophy having done so in 2024 when they beat the same opponent.
In the Plate final, another soroti side rose to victory after debutants Soroti SS beat St. James SS by 6 wickets.
Judith Iroo who plucked five wickets for no run against Gulu HS picked three in this game, leading her side to victory.
Individual awards.
Sonia Nampeera- whose side, St. John’s SS- stopped in the Super Eight was named the tournament MVP.
The all-rounder racked up 872 points having picked 21 wickets- the most at the tournament- and 93 runs.
Malisa Ariokot- Victoria Pearls all-rounder took home the Best Batters award. The Olila captain scored the tournament’s highest runs- 279.
Light SS’ Rita Alio picked 20 wickets, one less than Nampeera, but she was named the Best Bowler of the tournament.
Mary Nabuma from Soroti was named the Best Fielder having registered 14 dismissals that included 10 catches and 4 runouts.
The Best Wicketkeeper award went to Mackline Kyosaba from Masindi SS. She had eleven dismissals- six catches and five runouts.
There was also an award for the youngster player of the tournament and it went to Nyakasura’s Angella Ihunde- a 12-year-old.
