Uganda missed out on the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup ticket after a heartbreaking 1-1 draw with Ghana in the return leg of their qualifier at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.
The Queen Cranes who suffered a 2-1 first leg defeat in Accra fail to advance 3-2 on aggregate.
Uganda came into the contest needing just a score of 1-0 to secure a maiden World Cup slot.
Sylvia Kabene fired the Queen Cranes into the lead when struck from a tight angle.
Ghana’s Margaret Agyapomaa was shown marching orders with 20 minutes to the end following a stampede on Kabene.
With 10 minutes to the climax, Ghana was awarded a free kick when their forward was fouled on the right side of the box.
Linda Owusu Ansah was entrusted with the responsibility and levelled matters from the free-kick to stun Kadiba into silence.
Queen Cranes skipper Agnes Nabukenya came close to levelling the tie on aggregate but her effort from the free kick went inches wide.
By full-time whistle, the West African side were in jubilation as the Queen Cranes crashed to the ground in agony.
Ghana will make their eighth appearance at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup due in Poland this year in September.
