Goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya in talks with UPL side

Uganda Premier league side Express FC is in talks with exprienced goalkeeper Mathias Kigonya, Swift Sports Uganda understands.

Kigonya is currently a free agent and this website has established that the Red Eagles are offering him a one year employment contract.

He has previously featured in the Uganda Premier league having commenced his journry at Soana before he joined Soltilo Bright Stars.

He crossed to Kenya where he featured at Sofapaka Sports Club and later Azam Football Club in Tanzania and also played for Zambabwe’s Yadah Football Club. Kigonya last played for Hardrock FC in Zimbabwe.

Kigonya is a proven shot stopper with exceptional ball-playing and commanding abilities with skills to tame during one-against-one situations and awesome at saving penalties.

Last month Kigonya was the hero for Mmamba Kakoboza, saving two penalties as his clan beat Nkima to clinch its maiden Bika Football Shield.

Express who recently confirmed Becky Cynthia Nakimer as their CEO are close to appointing former SC Villa and KCCA FC coach Morley Byekwaso as their new head coach. Byekwaso and new club also a strong admirer of Kigonya.
