The race for the Masaza Cup 2026 Golden Boot has intensified with four players currently tied on five goals ahead of the semifinal stage.
Kaweesi Rogers of Buvuma, Kayemba Reymond of Ssese, Dathan Mubiru of Butambala, and Lubwama Lauben of Kyagwe are all level on five goals.
However, with only two of the four leading scorers remaining in the competition, the Golden Boot race is expected to become even more intense at the semi-finals stage
Butambala’s Mubiru and Lubwama of Kyagwe are the only two players who still have a chance of extending their goal tally since both have their teams still in contention for the title.
Mubiru will hope to extend his tally when Butambala takes on record winners Gomba in the semifinals with the first leg due this Sunday while Lubwama and his Kyaggwe battle Bugerere in the semi-finals.
Both players will therefore have another opportunity to extend their goal tally and potentially move clear at the top of the scoring chart.
With goals expected to be crucial in deciding who reaches the final, the semifinal fixtures could prove decisive not only for team success but also for individual glory in the Golden Boot race.
