Vivo Energy Uganda powers FMU’s Motocross sporting events with Shs50M Sponsorship

Vivo Energy Uganda, the marketer and distributor of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Uganda, has announced a UGX 50 million sponsorship to the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) Motocross team. The sponsorship at an event held Shell Muyenga Service Station on 15th May 2025, marks a significant milestone in the development of motocross in the country and reinforces Vivo Energy Uganda’s long-standing commitment to the advancement of local sport.
This sponsorship reflects the company’s wider business strategy to contribute meaningfully to community development through sport, particularly those that engage youth and foster performance, resilience, and ambition.
Motocross, a sport rapidly gaining traction across Uganda, has been a key focus for Vivo Energy Uganda’s social investment over the years.
The UGX 50 million sponsorship package will support several critical components designed to strengthen the sport’s infrastructure and competitiveness. Participating riders will benefit from access to Shell Advance lubricants and Shell V-Power fuel during selected races to ensure optimal engine performance.
Scrutineering services will be provided at designated Shell service stations through Motorcare Express points, ensuring that all competing motorcycles meet essential safety and performance standards.
Safety remains a core priority within this initiative. The sponsorship includes safety reflectors for all race marshals, track safety tape, and branded materials to ensure events are conducted to the highest standards.
In addition, a direct financial contribution will support FMU’s grassroots development programmes and improvements in event infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Joanita Menya Mukasa, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, underscored the deeper purpose of the partnership:

Mr Arthur Blick, Deputy Vice President for Motocross at FMU, also expressed gratitude and excitement on behalf of the Federation:
“This sponsorship could not have come at a better time. Motocross is growing fast, especially among young people. Vivo Energy Uganda’s support is not only timely it is transformational. It strengthens the foundations of the sport and gives our athletes the resources they need to compete and excel.”
The partnership will be activated across a series of upcoming FMU motocross events, including MX4 in Lira Omito, MX5 and MX8 in Garuga, and MX7 in Fort Portal. These events will serve as platforms to showcase both rising Ugandan talent and the impactful collaboration between FMU and Vivo Energy Uganda.
This sponsorship forms part of Vivo Energy Uganda’s broader commitment to building a sustainable sporting legacy and engaging with communities in meaningful, long-lasting ways.
