Buweekula clinched their maiden Masaza Cup title after a narrow 1-0 win over two time champions Ssingo in the final played at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.
The Felix Ssekabuuza coached side needed Alex Taremwa first half goal to overcome Ssingo in the epic final that was attended by His Majesty Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
Taremwa fired Buweekula into the lead in the 9th minute with a long range shot that beat Ssingo custodian Joel Byamukama.
Ssingo who were playing their sixth final came close to levelling matters when Ismail Rwamitala’s free header off a Derrick Kato corner went inches wide in the 24th minute.
Buweekula held on to clinch their first ever Masaza Cup title. Before Saturday’s final, Buweekula had lost two previous finals in 2012 and 2021.

This was the first Masaza Cup final to be held at Nakivubo in 12 years ironically Ssingo lost the previous one in 2013 against Mawokota at that time.

Buweekula join other previous Masaza Cup winners in Gomba, Buddu, Ssingo, Bulemeezi, Busiro, Mawokota, Buluuli, Kkooki and Kyaddondo.
Meanwhile, last year’s losing finalists Kyaggwe finished third after beating Bugerere in the bronze medal match.
Buweekula’s Jimmy Kalema finished as the top scorer with sevenD goals and was also named as the Most Valuable player while Joel Byamukama (Ssingo) clinched the best goalkeeper award.
