12 local based players named in Cranes squad to face Kenya

Interim coach Abdallah Mubiru will once again be in charge of the Uganda Cranes team as the hunt for the new coach goes on.

Mubiru will coach the Cranes in their international friendly game against Kenya on September 8th in Nairobi.

A total of 12 local based players have named in the 25-man squad summoned for the aforementioned match.

The 25 also include 13 foreign based players who were also part of the Cranes team that represented Uganda in the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.

Among the notable inclusions is Vipers’ hot shot Fahad Bayo Aziz who makes a return to the national team after one and a half year.

The international friendly is also expected to prepare the local based players ahead of their 2020 CHAN double legged qualifier against Burundi.

Uganda will start the 2021 AFCON qualification campaign in November with two games against Burkina Faso and Malawi.
