CAF CL: Eric Kambale scores on debut as El Merreikh defeat Lwanga’s Arta Solar 7

Eric Kenzo Kambale came off the bench to inspire El Merriekh’s 2-1 win over Djibouti moneybags Arta Solar 7 in Djibouti in the CAF Champions League preliminary round first leg.
The Djibouti champions handed a debut to Uganda Cranes midfielder Taddeo Lwanga as well as former Chelsea forward Salomon Kalou.

Lwanga’s teammate goalkeeper Sulait Luyima started on the bench after recovering from injury while team captain Alexandre Song missed the encounter.
Arta Solar7 took an early through striker Mogueh Idriss Omar in the 12th minute.
Kambale was introduced on the pitch in the 64th minute and headed home El Merriekh’s equalizer in the 83rd minute from close range.

The Sudanese giants completed the come back courtesy of a late own goal in the third minute of the added time.
Both sides will face off in the second leg on Saturday 17th September in Sudan.
The aggregate winner of the duel will face Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli or Zanzibar’s KMKM.
