CBE grab Group A leadership with 8-0 obliteration of Djibouti minnows

Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) claimed the leadership of the Group A table of the ongoing CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers after thumping Djibouti’s FAD FC 8-0 in the late kick off at Njeru.

The 8-0 obliteration followed Buja Queens’ 2-1 win over Ugandan champions Kampala Queens in the early kick off.

The Ethiopian champions struggled to find the break through against FAD despite dominating affairs from the on-set.

Senafu Wakuma broke the deadlock in the 30th minute before Aregash Tadese made it 2-0 four minutes later.

Halftime ended 4-0 and as the second half kicked off, the Ethiopians completely dominated proceedings but only added four more goals despite getting a number of goal attempts.

By full-time, Senafu Wakuma and Ariet Odong had a brace each, while Loza Abera, Nardos Getenet, Aregash Tadese and Birra Etsegenet grabbed one apiece.

CBE rested a couple of their players mid way the second half and clearly shifted attention to their next game which will be against Kampala Queens on Friday.

CBE have six points while Kampala Queens and Buja Queens have three points each.

South Sudan’s Yei Joint and FAD Club are bottom of the table that has five clubs. The top two clubs will qualify for the semi finals.

Action continues at Lugogo with two games in Group B as Tanzania’s JKT take on New Generation of Zanzibar. Vihiga Queens will face AS Kigali in the late kick off.
