Final Ugandan U-20 squad for CECAFA Championship revealed

Morley Byekwaso has revealed a final U20 man squad to represent Uganda in the CECAFA Championship in Tanzania.

Among the notable inclusions is Alpha Thierry Ssali, a son to musician Bebe Cool while Police FC lanky forward Derrick Kakooza didn’t make the cut.

KCCA new signing Andrew Kawooya also didn’t make the cut.

Vipers’ trio of Aziz Kayondo, Bobosi Byaruhanga and Yiga Najib are part of the squad as the club prepares for the CAF Champions League tie against Al Hilal.

Ivan Bogere is expected to lead the attack just like in the CECAFA U-20 tournament held last year in Gulu.

The tournament which also acts as a qualification platform for the AFCON U-20 championships is slated to kick off on 22nd with a group A tie where hosts Tanzania will face off with Djibouti at 4:00pm.

The Hippos will kick start their champaign against neighbors South Sudan on 23rd November.

The tournament will also see two Ugandans officiating referee Engineer William Oloya and Emmanuel Okudra as an assistant referee.

Nine countries will take part in the tournament grouped in three groups.

Group A has Tanzania, Somalia and Djibouti, Group B is made up of Uganda Burundi and South Sudan and C consists of Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan.

Winners will automatically seal a berth in the U-20 AFCON championships to be hosted by Mauritania.
