Former Cranes striker Brian Umony to attend coaching course in Germany

Former Uganda Cranes striker Brian Umony to attend the International Football coaching course at the University of Leipzig under ITK program.

Umony and Youth Development Manager at FUFA Bashir Mutyaba are the two candidates that have been submitted by the Federation.

The Federation has funded their travel arrangements and will depart for Germany on Thursday, 29th February and return on June 30th, 2024.

Umony who is a CAF C Diploma coach and a graduate at Kyambogo University expressed his delight upon the opportunity

“This is a rare career further training opportunity that I cannot take for granted. The transition period from playing football to holding onto another career is such a challenging activity. I thank FUFA President and entire administration for the nomination and support for this course in the quest to strategically fit into coaching career after playing football. On finishing this six-month coaching course, I am confident will contribute to development of youth talents in the country, the future Uganda Cranes players. Said the former Cranes player.

Umony is a youth coach and currently works with Proline FC and Academy.

As a player, Umony featured for Nakawa United, KCCA FC, SuperSuport United(South Africa), University of Pretoria (South Africa), Azam (Tanzania among others.

Umony made his debut for the Uganda national football team in 2009 and at the time of his retirement he had 36 caps and 12 goals. He was top scorer at the 2008 CECAFA Cup with five goals helping Uganda win a record 10th CECAFA Cup title.
