KCCA FC’s chances of making it to the quarter finals out of group A have been dealt a huge blow after falling to a slender 1-0 defeat at the hands of 2 time winners Esperence Tunis FC.

They now need a miracle to progress being that they are now stuck in 4th on 3 points, Esperance have now but sealed their place in the quarters after clinching 10 points and they remain the only unbeaten team in the group.

Esperence’s moment came in the 40th minute when substitute Hatheim Jouini capitalised on kcca’s poor marking to slot home a fine finish past Lukwago.

Moments later, KCCA were presented with a glorious chance to level matters but Mustafa Kizza’s shot was easily dealt with by Ben Cherifa who had guarded his near post well.

Esperance Xi that started

Earlier on, Esperance were forced into an early substitution when the injured Mohammed Youseff was withdrawn for Fousseny Coulibaly in the 20th minute.

Mike Mutebi returned for the second period with a new plan and in the process Muzamir Mutyaba made way for Lawrence Bukenya immediately after resumption.

Esperance managed to neutralize Allan Okello’s brilliance

Filbert Obenchan also came on for Patrick Kaddu on 67 minutes but a push for the equalizer yielded nothing.

With 15 minutes to go, Saddam Juma combined well with Allan Okello in a beautiful one two but the end product went agonisingly out.

In the 90th Minute KCCA custodian Charles Lukwago got Match orders for improper conduct and Saddam Juma was sacrificed for Tom Ikara

KCCA will next play hosts to Township rollers on 18th August 2018
