Kyetume’s survival hopes have been dealt a huge blow after suffering a 3-1 loss at the hands of Mbarara city.

Kyetume who also lost to SC Villa in their previous league outing, they needed to respond if they were to stand a serious chance of staying up judging by the fact that their nearest opponents are Busoga United who are on 26 points against Kyetume’s 23.

Unfortunately, it was them who fell behind on 27 minutes. Mbarara city scored through Henry Kitegenyi before Hillary Mukundane extended their lead 2 minutes later.

The Nakisunga based side failed to provide any response before the half time break.

As they pressed harder for a lifeline, Kitegenyi scored his second of the day and the 80th of the season to seal all 3 points for the visitors.

Richard Matovu scored an injury time goal but it was only good enough to count as a consolation goal Kyetume.

To make matters worse, head coach Jackson Mayanja made it clear that he had served his final game as Kyetume head .

Kyetume have not however come out with a formal communication about Mayanja’s fate but they will have to see out the remaining three fixtures with a new man in the dugout.

Kyetume’s next game is a trip to Kavumba where they face Bright Stars on Wednesday 23rd, whereas Mbarara city will host UPDF on Tuesday 22nd at Kakyeka.
