SC Villa finalise deal to sign former Cranes captain

Record league champions SC Villa are believed to have finalised a deal that will see retired Cranes assistant captain Hassan Wasswa return to Villa park on a 12 months’ renewable contract.

Wasswa played for SC Villa between 2014 and 2015 and was key figure in the squad that last won a piece of silverware for the club. They beat KCCA FC in the Uganda cup final.

He has also played for KCCA FC and amassed 75 caps for the national team from which he retired early this year.

Wasswa also played for St George in Ethiopia, FC Cape Town in South Africa, FC Karabukspor in Turkey, Don Nai in Viet Nam, Al Shorta in Iraq, Nejmeh Sporting in Lebanon, El Gaish in Egypt and FC Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.

The Jogoos have already lost key players in Emmanuel Wasswa to KCCA, Derrick Ndahiro to URA and defender Geoffrey Wasswa who chose to walk out following the expiry of his short term contract .

The Edward Kaziba coached side are also understood to be in negotiations with former Cranes international defender Godfrey Walusimbi who is also a free agent after returning from Albania.

They have already sealed moves for the less known trio of Charles Bbaale, Ali Bayo Arshavin and Gift Fred from Masaza cup champions Gomba.
