SC Villa in advanced stages to sign former Cranes left back

SC Villa are in talks to sign free agent left back Godfrey Walusimbi “Jajja Walu” as one of the proposed eight exceptional players.

Walusimbi is one of the players the SC Villa technical team proposed to sign in the ongoing primary transfer window.

With negotiations in the advanced stages, Walusimbi is expected to return to SC Villa, a side he played for at the start of his illustrious career.

Walusimbi has been out of action since his short term contract with FC Vllaznia in Albania came to an end at the start of last year.

He broke onto the footballing scene with the Villa youth side Jogoo Young and went on to play for Villa, Bunamwaya (Vipers SC), Don Bosco in DR Congo, Gor Mahia in Kenya and South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs.

Walusimbi remains one of the most capped players in the Cranes history having played for Uganda on 105 occasions.

He represented Uganda in 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments in Gabon and Egypt respectively before he retired from international football in 2019.

Villa have already announced the departures of left backs Derrick Ndahiro and Andrew Kiwanuka.

This website has also learnt Walusimbi’s former Cranes teammate Hassan Wasswa is also expected to join the Jogoos.
