Stanbic Uganda Cup: Vipers shootout Wakiso Giants as Bright Stars power past Kiyinda Boys

Vipers SC book their place in the quarter finals of the Stanbic Uganda cup after edging Wakiso Giants 4-3 on penalties in Alex Isabirye’s first game as Venoms coach.

Ashraf Mandela put the game level 78th minute to cancel out Shariph Kimbowa’s 47th minute strike.

Mandela’s goals was Vipers’ first goal in eight games across all competitions and also their first goal this year.

Norman Ogik and former Vipers midfieder Tom Masiko failed to convert from the spot as the Venoms cruised to the quarterfinals.

George Kaddu, Rahmat Senfuka and Moses Aliro converted for the hosts Wakiso.

Bright Anukani, Abubaker Lawal, Martin Kizza and Hillary Mukundane scored for the Venoms in the shootout.

Meanwhile, Soltilo Bright Stars thrashed Buganda Region side Kiyinda Boys 4-0 in the other round of 16 game played at Kavumba.

Ibrahim Kasinde netted a brace with Emmanuel Loki and Nelson Senkatuka scoring the other goals for Bright Stars.

Action in the Stanbic Uganda Cup will resume tomorrow with two games.
