The 2019 CECAFA U20 Challenge Cup will kickoff on 21st September to 5th October 2019.
The competition will attract 11 countries with Uganda as the host nation. Others are Eritrea, Kenya, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan, Djibouti, Sudan and Somalia.
CECAFA Secretary General Nicholas Musonye thanked FUFA during the media briefing on Saturday morning at Imperial Royale hotel for the support towards the event.

He also confirmed that Rwanda will miss the event due to other engagements.
“We want to thank FUFA and the media who always give support to CECAFA tournaments.” The preparations are great and we want to ensure that all our fans are comfortable while in Uganda.”
Rwanda will not take part in this competition due to several engagements, that can’t enable them to participate in the event.”
Stated Musonye.
Local Organizing Committee chairman Darius Mugoye told the press that Gulu was selected as the hosting District due to the passionate fans
“We call upon the fans to come and give support to our boys. We thank CECAFA for giving us the opportunity to host this competition.” Gulu people are very passionate to the game of football and are very enthusiastic to host this event.”
Mugoye is also confident that Uganda will win the tournament following CECAFA U15 and U17 triumphs.
Gulu’s Pece War Memorial Stadium and FUFA Technical Centre Njeru are two venues that will be used during the competition.
The opening game, all group A matches and semifinals will be held at Pece Memorial Stadium while the finals and Group B and C games will be played at Njeru Technical Centre
Sudan and Djibouti will face off in the opener at 2Pm on Saturday 21st before hosts Uganda lock horns with Eritrea at 4PM.
