Kenya Premier League side Kakamega Homeboyz are in the advanced stages of signing left back Shafik Batambuze.
Batambuze is currently in Kenya and training with Kakamega Homeboyz ahead of his imminent return to the Kenya Premier League.
He is currently unattached having spent the opening half of the season on the fringes of Tanzania Premier League side Singida Big Stars.
He is expected to complete the transfer to the Patrick Odhiambo coached team before the closure of the Kenya transfer window on Thursday.
The lanky left back is expected to provide health competition to his fellow countryman Farouk Musisi who has been the club’s regular starter on the left side of defence.

He has previously featured in the Kenya Premier League with giants Gor Mahia, Tusker FC, Sofapaka, Western Stima and Muhoroni Youth.
He also played for Simba FC and SC Villa both in Uganda as well as Zambia’s Kabwe Warriors and the now defunct Tanzanian side Singida United.

Batambuze has three caps with the national team The Cranes and was part of the squad that represented Uganda in the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
Besides Farouk Musisi, goalkeeper Cleo James Ssetuba and striker Davis Kasirye are other Ugandans playing for Kakamega Homeboyz.
Homeboyz will be targeting a better finish this season having represented Kenya in this season’s CAF Confederation Cup.
