Ugandan referee selected for CAF Schools championship

Ugandan referee Jabeth Ojilong has been selected for the forthcoming CAF Schools championship.

Ojilong is among the 21 referees selected by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate at the Schools championship in Zanzibar.

The second edition of the CAF Schools championship is scheduled to kickoff on May 21st to 24th at Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.

The 17 years old is the only Ugandan selected for the championship in Zanzibar and third referee from CECAFA region.

Ojilong was the man in charge of the epic Quarterfinal tie between fans favourites Blessed Sacrament Kimanya and St. Mary’s Kitende at the just concluded USSSA National Boys’ Schools championship that was held in Masaka.

The 2024 edition of the competition will feature winners from Regional/ Zonal Qualifiers.

At the Championship, Uganda will be represented by St.Mary’s Boarding SS Kitende who are the boys’ CECAFA region champions.

Kawempe Muslim will also represent the CECAFA region in the Girls’ category.

The Winners of both the Boys’ and Girls’ competition will each receive USD 300,000 prize money, runners-up each receiving USD 200, 000, while the bronze medallists will each take home USD 15000, courtesy of CAF’s partnership with the Motsepe Foundation to be utilised for development projects within schools.
