WAKISO GIANTS 2-1 BUSOGA UNITED : Purple Sharks rally from a goal down as Bengo registers first win

Wakiso Giants came from behind to beat Busoga United 2-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Friday evening.

Goals from Viane Ssekajugo and second half substitute Karim Ndugwa inspired Wakiso Giants to maximum points while defender Abubakar Otwao struck for the visitors.

This was the Purple Sharks first win under the stewardship of caretaker coach Steven Bengo. They had also not won a league game since their 2-1 win over Mbarara City at the start of October.

On the 26th minute mark, Otwao rose highest to head Busoga into the lead.

Ssekajugo restored parity in first half stoppage time the with a timely header off Simon Namwaja’s quality cross.

In the 63rd minute, attacking midfielder David Bagoole nearly restored the visitors lead forcing custodian Derrick Emukule into a save.

Bengo introduced on Ndugwa for veteran striker Geoffrey Sserukuma who had minimal impact on the contest.

The tactical change paid off when Ndugwa had the most important touch of the game slotting home from a rebound off a Lawrence Bukenya’s long range shot had earlier kissed bar.

The win takes Bengo’s side to seventh place with 16 points while Busoga United are sixth on the log also with the same number of points.

Wakiso Giants will next play Kyetume FC on Wednesday 13th November whereas Busoga United will host Maroons FC at the Might Arena on the same day.
