Police FC 1-0 NEC FC

NEC FC have missed out on a chance to stretch their lead on the FUFA Big League table after losing to rivals Police! 1-0 in the 2pm kick off at Kavumba.

Emmanuel Mugume scored the all important goal that guided The Cops back to the rails having lost their previous game to Lugazi FC last week.

Mugume was on a receiving end following Bernardo Kateregga’s cross which Angelo Kizza failed to clear in the 37th minute.

He emerges as Police’s best player of the campaign so far having scored a total of six goals.

Newly signed striker Geoffrey Sserunkuma will have to wait a little longer to find his first goal in the NEC FC colors after he was withdrawn for Ivan Kamoga towards the last quarter of the game.

NEC failed to fight back with limited goal scoring chances before the referee blew the final whistle.

The result however leaves NEC top of the table though level on 33 points with Police FC who gave a slightly inferior goal difference.

Angelo Lonyesi the Police coached commended his players for impressively playing to the instructions.

” I’m very impressed with my boys for following the instructions. Our game plan was to kill NEC’s wings and that is what we did in the first half.” Lonyesi said after the game.

Kitara currently sit third on 32 points while Mbarara City dropped to the fourth on 31 points as both sides wait to play over the weekend.
