Vipers take full advantage of KCCA and Villa losses with slim victory over UPDF

Vipers SC completed a double over UPDF FC thanks to an early own goal from Goalkeeper Derrick Were on Wednesday at Bombo Military grounds.

The win saw Vipers close the gap on league leaders SC Villa to eight points with four games in hand.

UPDF custodian Were pushed Milton Karisa’s cross into his own net in the 3rd minute of the contest.

Abubaker Lawal had a decent chance to double the Venoms advantage but his effort was cleared off the line by Christopher Kawagu.

Badru Jibril Nsimbe came close to levelling matters for the army side but his effort was well delt with by Hillary Mukundane in the second half.

Vipers held on to their lead and cruised to maximum points.

UPDF FC are now three points above relegation as they remain on 22 points they have garnered in 22 games. The army side next face Maroons on Tuesday 25th April at Luzira Prisons grounds.

The Venoms are third with 34 points they have collected in 18 matches. They next host URA FC on Saturday, 22nd April at Kitende.
