BIG LEAGUE: NEC hit 50 point mark with convincing win over Booma

NEC FC maintained their pace in the race for promotion with a 2-0 win over Booma FC at the Coffee Grounds in Bugolobi.

Richard Ajuna and Tonny Kiberu scored the vital goals in the first and second half respectively to seal the deserved victory.

The win was NEC’s 15th of the campaign, joint best with leaders Kitara who are expected to claim three points from their abandoned game against Kyetume yesterday.

Former Proline left back Ajuna opened the scores in the 16th minute with a well struck volley at the edge of the box.

Kiberu sealed the victory in the 47th minute with an ease finish after goalkeeper Austine Opoka parried the ball from Marvin Kavuma’s shot in his way.

The win took NEC to 50 points from 26 points played and will be one behind leaders Kitara pending boardroom decision. Mbarara City are third with 48th points.

Booma who are now 5th with 6th with 36 points will seek redemption when they host Kataka FC next week.

NEC will visit Jinja North United in Bugembe on the next match day next week.
