Vipers sail past Gaddafi to keep the title defense alive

Vipers SC comfortably beat Gaddafi FC 2-0 in the late kickoff at Kitende to close the gap on leaders SC Villa.

Goals from in form forward Abubaker Lawal and substitute Abdu Lumala saw Alex Isabirye’s charges cruise to maximum points at Kitende ahead of their do or die game against second placed KCCA FC on Friday.

Lawal give the hosts the lead in the 23rd minute after being fed by a quality Milton Karisa assist.

Karisa came close to doubling the Venoms lead but his header was fantastically saved by Gaddafi custodian Joel Mutakubwa.

Early in the second half, left back Isa Mubiru had a decent scoring opportunity but flashed over the bar.

In the 77th minute, substitute Lumala scored his first league goal for the Venoms to sending the Kitende faithfuls into a frenzy.

Victory sees Vipers close the gap on leaders SC Villa to four points, they are currently third on 42 points after 22 games.

Isabirye’s side next host second placed KCCA FC on Friday in the late kickoff at Kitende.
