Sserunjogi, Babirye among Fortebet Real Stars of August

The organizers of the Fortebet Real Stars monthly awards have rewarded the winners of the month of August.

The winners were from Basketball, Football and Boxing and were rewarded on Tuesday at Lazo Restaurant in Lugogo.

Boxer John Sserunjogi was the best Boxer of the month of August following his African Boxing Union Super Middleweight title triumph.

He powered past Egyptian Ahmed Boloshy in the 8th round in the fight that was held at BMK House in Kampala. He beat Conrad Sseruyange and David Ssemujju to the accolade.

Lydia Babirye who features for Gazelles was named the best in Basketball for her astonishing performances in August.

Babirye helped Uganda qualify for the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup due in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia this month. She overcame KIU’s Joel Lukoji and Shakira Nanvubya (UCU Lady Canons) to the August gong.

She was named as the MVP at the FIBA 3×3 Youth Nations League qualifying tournament that was staged at Lugogo Hockey Grounds last month.

Ssingo Ssaza team goalkeeper Julius Ssenyonga was the best in football after keeping three clean sheets during the month of August. He beat Manuel Irivai and Robert Ssewanyana to the accolade.

Meanwhile, Jocelyn Uchanda walked away with the Lifetime Award for her tremendous role in Netball.

Uchanda serves as the manager for Uganda’s most successful Netball team NIC.

The winners of the monthly awards are rewarded with accolades and cash prizes courtesy of main sponsors Fortebet and Jude Color solutions.
