Mbarara City secured a promotion back to the Uganda Premier League after beating neighbors Kaaro Karungi 2-0 in Ibanda in the penultimate round of the FUFA Big League.
Strikers Henry Kitegenyi and Jude Ssemugabi were on target to inspire the Ankole Lions to a much needed result.
Kitegenyi scored first in the 5th minute from the penalty mark after Seiri Arigumaho was brought down in the forbidden area.
Nvule Jamie Kisitu made a wonderful spadework to set up Ssemugabi who made it 2-0 in the 50th minute of the game.

The win took Mbarara City to 57th minute and subsequently earned them a place in next season’s UPL alongside rivals and leaders Kitara FC who have a point more.
Kitara beat Adjumani Town Council 3-0 thanks to goals from Paul Mucureezi, Paddy Muhumuza and George Senkaaba.
Mbarara City and Kitara will be vying for the Big League championship as the season next week.
