Vipers cruise past Express to maintain top spot

Vipers SC thrashed Express FC 5-2 in a Uganda Premier league contest at Kitende on Tuesday.

Second half substitute Cromwel Rwothomio scored half a brace to adding to Bright Anukani, Yunus Sentamu and Milton Karisa first half goals.

Joseph Akandwanaho and Marvin Oshaba scores the two goals for the Red Eagles.

The win saw the Venoms stay top of the Uganda Premier league log with 49 points same as second and third placed KCCA and Vipers, though the latter have a superior goal difference.

In the 15th minute, the Venoms were awarded a penalty after Abdu Lumala was brought down in the forbidden area by Isa Lumu.

Anukani calmly converted from the spot to send the Kitende faithfuls into delight.

Two minutes later, Sentamu doubled their advantage after being fed by skipper Karisa.

The Red Eagles pulled one back midway in the first period through Akandwanaho.

At the stroke of halftime, Karisa made it 3-1 to the home side.

Early in the second half, Oshaba cut the visitors deficit.

Second half substitute, Rwothomio netted a late brace to seal the points for the Venoms.

The win sees the defending champions stay top with 49 points level with KCCA and SC Villa who also prevailed past BUL FC and UPDF FC respectively.

Vipers will next face off with Busoga United on Tuesday next week.
