Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi remanded to Luzira

The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) President Moses Muhangi has been remanded to Luzira Prison.

Nakawa Court Chief Magistrate Ritah Neumbe Kidasa has on Thursday remanded the UBF boss to Luzira until May 31st, 2023 after being denied bail.

Muhangi is charged for forgery, uttering false documents and misappropriation.

Earlier this week, PAC (Central Gov’t) chaired by Hon. Asuman Basalirwa handed the UBF boss Muhangi and the former accountant at the Federation Lydia Namuleme to Police CID for further management on allegations of forgery, uttering false documents and misappropriation.

Muhangi was then arrested on Tuesday and detained at the Central Police Station in Kampala.

On Monday, the Uganda Netball Federation President Sarah Babirye Kityo was remanded to Luzira over charges of obtaining Shs16M by falsely pretending to take people to the US.

She was however granted bail on Wednesday by the Buganda Road Court Grade One Magistrate Siena Owomugisha.

State Minister for Sports, Peter Ogwang, revealed that the ongoing investigations and arrest of sports federation heads are due to their failure to explain edit queries in their accountability and abuse of office.
